Time Master access to Dropbox is too broad

Can you please change the access Time Master requests when setting up backup to Dropbox.  Now, it requests Full Access, which gives the application full access to all of my files and folders.  It only really needs access to its own folder and files, which other apps I use are set up to do.   I've been using Time Master for years and love it, but this is a security hole that is a real problem for me.

The reason it has more access is for the "Photo Receipts".  It allows the user to browse any folder to find any receipt (picts, pdfs, etc.) anywhere the user had put them.  Some people may scan/create pdf's with a different app and then import them into the Photo Receipts.

I'd like to add that I'm also uncomfortable with the security issues around unrestricted dropbox access. At the very least could this not be made optional, for people who want to add photo receipts in the way you've described?

Let me ask you this.  Why exactly is this an issue?  It does not appear that Dropbox can limit which folders an app can see.  So I would assume that it would require Time Master to only allow certain folders.  Is someone else using your device and Time Master that would be an issue?

Apps that ask for more permissions than they need give me the creeps, and while I see it could be useful to some users in some circumstances, if the only thing I need to do is save a backup once in a while, asking for read/write access to all my files is an overreach.

You're making a lot of sense, Paul. Some applications really go overboard with the permissions they ask for. I wish this would be addressed in general too.

The thing is that in Time Master you can also save Reports, Invoices, etc.  You wouldn't want to save them in the Time Master Backups folder as that would make it really hard to find.  So that is why we allow you access to other user created folders so that the user can save things like Reports, Invoices, etc. to where they want them.

On the contrary, this is exactly what I would want.

Once you set the path for a specific function, e.g. Reports, Invoices, etc. it will remember that path.  If you want them all in the same folder, just create a folder in Dropbox and point it to save them there.
