.html files
« on: September 02, 2010, 10:29:13 am »
Ever since installing Time Master, it has been opening my .html email attachments.  Every night I get an email from my server at working giving me the result of my data backup.  For some reason, Time Master is now associated with opening the .html files.  I need to change this back.  Here are a couple screen shots showing the problem.

We have to "register" with the iOS that we can open "text" files.  We do not specify what file type attachments (file extensions), that is handled by the OS.  Starting with iPad OS 3.2 and iOS 4.0, "text" files will now open in Apple's "Text View" window.  It would do that no matter what and we have no control over that.  In the upper right corner, the button appears with the ability to open that file type in any applications that register that file type with the OS.  So it is likely that you will start to see other apps in that button.

I'm thinking that you misread my question.  I'm not asking why the Time Master icon is there, I'm asking why it's completely hosing the format of the file.  This is what it used to look like as opposed to the raw HTML code.  This all started right after installing Time Master.

 Thanks.

I don't know why that should start to be a problem.  That screen that you see is by Apple, not by us.  Any "text" files would only be handed off to Time Master once you tap on that button.  I will look at the Dev Forums and see if anyone says anything about that?

Thanks.  Just to let you know that it doesn't do it on my iPad, but that might have something to do with the fact that there are two programs that want to open the file.  Do you want me to send you a copy of the actual file?

The iPhone is running iOS 4.0 (8A293)
The iPad is running iOS 3.2 (7B367)

Here are a couple screen shots of what it looks like on the iPad, which is also running Time Master.

Boy, that's strange.  I would think it would be a problem on the iPad too.  No need to send the file.  There is nothing we can do about that.  As you probably know, iOS 4 is still very buggy.  There is a really stupid date bug, that mostly affects people who are further from GMT, but is really annoying.  Apple finally admitted there was a problem, but still has not fixed this months later.  Go figure?!?!  I hope they fix the text view problem on 4.2 too.
