TextExpander 2.3.1 Does Not Work in TM 5.8.5

On 12/02/2013, the Smile folks released TextExpander touch ver. 2.3, which uses a different mechanism (not Reminders) to share snippets with iOS apps. Apparently, they had to make the change in response to a request from Apple.  This change broke all TextExpander functionality in TimeMaster.

TimeMaster must be updated to use the different mechanism so that TextExpander snippets will begin working again. There's a list of apps that have been updated here: http://smilesoftware.com/apps/. A lot of applications have made the switch. TimeMaster hasn't.

Like many people, I use TimeMaster every day. It's my billable lifeline. And TextExpander saves significant data-entry time each week.

Please accept my vote for an update to get TextExpander working again.

Hi Damon,

We just learned about this last week.  I was going to post against the other thread about this, but this new thread will do nicely.

Yes, Apple did not like the way that TE was using the "Reminders" in the prior version and forced them change it.  Unfortunately the Smile folks never sent out an email alerting us of this change, unlike the prior update.  The way the new version has to work is complex and we will have to make several big changes to make this work.  It is something that we will certainly do, we just don't have an ETA on when we can get to this yet.  We are wrapping up another project and hopefully can get on this as soon as that is completed.  Sorry for the inconvenience.

Checking in for an ETA on getting TextExpander to work again in Time Master.  For those of us who use TM to bill [6-minute increments] all day, every day, TextExpander is extremely important.  We've been struggling without it for ~4 months.

Please recognize that it's not just a matter of convenience.  Zero TextExpander means 1) cryptic, highly abbreviated billing entries; 2) time-consuming [non-billable] work converting those entries into legible narrative; and 3) increased risk of error due to the manual, and memory-based expansion of entries.

I understand that you have many priorities and finite resources to devote to each.  I just ask that you consider the appropriate priority for fixing TextExpander in light of how valuable it is to your users who live and breath Time Master every day.

Thanks for all that you do.  I couldn't do what I do [as well] without it.

Hi Damon,

Somehow this fell thru the cracks.  We will submit 5.8.6 today and hopefully it should be up on the app store in  7 to 10 days.  Sorry for the trouble.
Once the Snippets are shared, there will be a new menu item in the Setup screen.  You will have to tap on that row to "import" the updated snippets.
