Calculation error?
« on: November 14, 2013, 06:47:20 am »
Hi

I am running TimeMaster version 5.8.3 on IOS7 version 7.0.3 (11B511)

One of my more astute customers has checked his invoice and noticed the following:

08/11/2013     Start Time:  16.10 Stop Time:   17.45  =  1hr 35 mins = 1.58 decimal @ £40 = £63.20p
09/11/2013     Start Time:  14.25 Stop Time:   16.15:  = 1hr 50 mins = 1.83 decimal @ £40 = £73.20p

Total:   £136.00p

TimeMaster however is showing:

08/11/2013     Start Time:  16.10 Stop Time:   17.45  =  1hr 35 mins = 1.67 decimal @ £40 = £66.67p
09/11/2013     Start Time:  14.25 Stop Time:   16.15:  = 1hr 50 mins = 1.83 decimal @ £40 = £73.33p

Total:   £140.00p

The invoice was produced on the 11/11/2013 and I have automatic updates on through App Store

Is it possible that in my set up of the software that I have applied some rounding up calculation or is there something else going on?

Many thanks.

Yes that is due to "rounding".  It is why we generally show (default to) 4 decimal places when displaying the "fraction".  Unless you round to 6 minutes (1/10 of an hour), you usually need to represent the fraction as 4 decimal places (e.g. 1.6777).  If you try to do with with 2 decimal places, the numbers most likely will not match.
