Header Image Size
« on: April 28, 2010, 04:45:22 pm »
Hi there,

I was wondering what the optimal "full" size is for a header image.  I'm trying to create an image in photoshop for this, but it doesn't seem to want to fit properly.  If you can provide me with the proper dimensions, i can create an image to fit them.

thanks,

d.

Hi Dave,

There is not really a specific setting.  The basic rule of thumb is that the header can use up to 15% of the page height.  So basically what we found works well is a very wide graphic with just enough height to keep it from getting compressed from side to side.  For example you could make a logo that was 8 inches wide and 1/4 inch tall and it would fit perfectly from side to side, but you can go taller.  You may want to try something like 8 inches wide and about 1 inch tall.  Try starting by drawing a rectangle in photoshop, paste it in and preview an invoice.  If it doesn't stretch from side to side, it's too tall.  The size will vary depending upon what paper size you use (e.g. US Letter, A4, etc.).  Hope that helps?   :D

it helps a lot.  i was having difficulty finding a pattern in how the image was being resized.  that clears things up a bit.

thanks.

I found after a trying over and over again that these are the best options -

Width: 8.0-8.5"
Height: 0.5-1.5"
Resolution: 300DPI
Format: PNG

Photoshop creates images at 72DPI by default, but I found that regardless of how large my image was it was still blurry. Making the image 300DPI makes it clear as day. I tried about 30 different images in every format and HxW ratio imaginable and they were all blurry until I made it 300DPI.

Just email the image to yourself on your device.  Open the email and then tap-and-hold on the image file.  Then select "Copy".  Now launch Time Master and navigate to the Header section (soon to be "Company").  Select Image as the format and then double tap in the Image box to Paste the image.  Then Save.
