Import of IIF file to QB Pro 2010 CRASH
« on: May 17, 2011, 06:11:56 pm »
No luck importing the IIF file exported from my IPAD.

Time Master
Setup -> Quickbooks -> Name to match QB, Export Clients & Items UNChecked, Export Projects Checked, Default Item selected, Date Format US, Compress Archive UNChecked.

Sample Data from Export:

!TIMEACT   BILLINGSTATUS   DATE   DURATION   EMP   ITEM   JOB   NOTE   PITEM
TIMEACT   1   9/15/2010   1:00   Christian   Data Extraction & Report Creation   FGMKL LLC.    Data Extraction from preventative maintenance & work order hosted application utilized by engineering department. Extraction inclusive of all historical data for PM Account. Data will be delivered via external USB hard drive encrypted using TrueCrypt (AES-265 bit).

QB PRO 2010
Employee Name to match Time Master
Employee Active

Edit-> Preferences -> Time & Expenses -> Company Preferences -> Do you Track Time? YES

Upon selecting the file to import QB crashes.  Any guidance on anything I may have missed? ???

Funny you should write this just now.  When helping someone set up QB today we discovered that QB only allows you to have ITEM names that are 31 characters in length.  Your Item (Task) name is 32 characters and that causes QB to crash (learn something new every day).  Starting with TM v4.4 (still in development) we are now going truncate the Task name to 31 characters *only* for the QB IIF file.  The Client and Job must be 41 or less characters.  So what you will need to do is make sure your Task names are 31 characters or less and that should solve your problem.
