Quickbooks import Error
« on: November 24, 2010, 02:51:13 am »
Hi,
When I try to import the iff file into quick books it give me an error "Error on line 2: Imported record has an invalid date. It should be MM/DD/YY" I have opened the iff file with notepad and the date is the correct format. Here is a copy of the iff files contents.

!TIMEACT   BILLINGSTATUS   DATE   DURATION   EMP   ITEM   JOB   NOTE   PITEM
TIMEACT   1   24/11/10   1:0   Time Master   Wireless network setup.   Sunengy

Thanks in advance,
PCPete

The format you pasted there is DD/MM/YY, which is not what your Quickbooks expects (MM/DD/YY)

Please Tap on Setup then navigate to Quickbooks->Date Format and change it from 'System Default' to 'US'.

Exported IIF files should now have the date format that your version of Quickbooks expects.

:) Thanks for the quick reply. I will check it when I get back into my office. I am not sure if I miss typed or miss read it, will check it out. If I did I am sorry to waste your time with a no brainer. Will let you know if it worked.
Thanks.

Hi Nick,

No, your problem is common for Australia and is why we added the "Date Format" option.  For some reason QB does not like your default date, so we added the option (Setup -> Quickbooks -> Date Format) to let you set the date to the US format which will work for you.

Got to the office this afternoon and tested it. Imported just fine with date format change. Thanks again for your quick response.
